Sweet & Sour Pork

I’m not sure how many recipes I’ve tried for sweet and sour pork, but for some reason I’ve never settled on one and am always trying another.  The latest version:http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/pork/sweet-sour-pork.html?p=9

Now look at that picture with the recipe.  Doesn’t it look pretty?  I guess that’s the reason I keep trying more recipes for the same thing.  The photos all look so good!

To start, I did not buy pork shoulder and cube it, nor did I buy pork already cubed.  I had some boneless chops left from my last “buy one get one free” purchase: 2013_1002September20130016  Not a great pic, I know.  The chops seem to blend right in with my red cutting board!  I cut those chops into cubes, then set about doing the same with the peppers and onion.

Yes, I know the recipe calls for pearl onions, but I didn’t see any and wasn’t willing to spend a lot of time searching.  After all, I already had some perfectly good onions at home.  Nothing wrong with chopping one of those!  And my husband says the green bell peppers “don’t agree with him”, so I usually spend the extra money on a red, yellow or orange one.  This is what I used:  2013_1002September20130019  After I got it all put together, I served it over rice: 2013_1002September20130029  Not very pretty, maybe, but it did taste good.  And the leftovers were eaten instead of thrown out, so that says something too 😀
